Michael E. Mason, CPA/ABV, CFP, CVA, CFFA, CFE is Managing Director of Forensic CPAs, LLC. A Certified Forensic Financial Analyst, Mr. Mason has worked extensively in all facets of forensic and investigative accounting in cases involving the public, private and government sectors. Areas of expertise within the broader scope of investigative and forensic accounting include fraud detection and deterrence, lost profit calculations, damage calculations, government auditing, risk assessment, asset location, employment agreements, discovery of corporate wrongdoing, contract disputes, and transaction examination and evaluation. Mr. Mason describes his approach to forensic accounting as purpose-driven, “The DNA is in the numbers so to speak, but it takes common sense, real-world experience and critical thinking skills to put together the pieces of the puzzle.”

A CPA for more than twenty-five years, Mr. Mason began his accounting career with the international accounting firm Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, now known as Deloitte Touche, serving clients throughout the United States in the areas of audit, tax, and mergers and acquisitions. He completed Deloitte’s advanced tax training program and was selected to serve as a national firm instructor in the areas of tax, audit and statistical sampling methods. Mr. Mason holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has served as President of UAB’s National Alumni Society. He is licensed to practice public accounting in the state of Alabama.
